Since opening Layne & Myers DDS dental practice 34 years ago with her husband, Dr. Thomas Layne, Dr. Dawn Myers has found dentistry to be a challenging, inspiring, and rewarding profession. She feels truly blessed to have what she believes is the greatest job in the world. Dr. Myers is surrounded by a dedicated team of compassionate people who help her provide patient care each day by eliminating discomfort, creating new smiles, and restoring dental function. Dr. Myers and our dental team are rewarded by giving patients of all ages the smile they have always wanted. Through the years, patients in turn have taught her a lot about communication, care, resilience, and sacrifice. She truly enjoys helping others, shaping smiles, meeting new people, and changing lives.
Through the years she has treated children on their first dental visits. Now, these same individuals are bringing their own little ones for their first visit. For Dr. Myers, seeing generations of smiles walking in through the door is extremely rewarding.
Education and continuing education
A native of Ripley, WV, Dr. Myers earned her Doctorate of Dental Surgery at West Virginia University in 1979. As a member of the Academy of General Dentistry, she believes that education should be a life-long journey, not a destination. Dr. Myers is committed to continue her education through participation in dental courses, which provide her knowledge about the latest products and proficiency in new techniques in dentistry. In turn, she is devoted to deliver the highest quality of service and treatment for her patient families.

Outside the office
In her free time, Dr. Myers loves spending time and catching up with her two sons and daughter. She also cherishes time spent with her husband and practice partner, Dr. Layne, as well as their three dogs, which she enjoys walking each evening. Spending time with friends, reading, cooking, and exploring different areas in the country are also hobbies of hers.
A proponent of community involvement, Dr. Myers participates in Donated Dental Services (DDS), a program that provides dental care for the disabled, elderly, and the medically-compromised. She also participates in the Pilot Club Dental Program for children who do not qualify for the Medicaid or CHIPS programs.
Along with Dr. Layne, she supports the 4-H and FFA youth programs, the Jackson County Junior Fair, the Community Foundation in Jackson County, Main Street Ripley, the Chamber of Commerce, and academic and extracurricular activities for students of all ages in the area. Finally, Dr. Myers and Dr. Layne donate funding annually for Smile Train to repair cleft palates and lips for children across the world.
